CADA is dedicated to research, development and use of best practices. As such, CADA looks to incorporate the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model. This model, by Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L), has been endorsed by Basketball Canada and is currently being implemented across the country at the provincial levels. We believe it is also important to endorse this program at the club and academy levels.
LTAD considers the best interests of the athlete and discourages winning at all costs. LTAD is built on sport science and best practices in coaching from around the world, and it follows 10 Key Factors that influence how athletes train and compete effectively.

Along with sport science and coaching, the 10 Key Factors include broader principles behind the way we organize and manage sport. For example, competition scheduling to optimize athlete development, organizational alignment of different groups and agencies that make up the “sport system”, and the philosophy of Continuous Improvement so we always work to make our science, coaching, and system of athlete development better.
